Beginning...

So I have been home for the past 2 and a half weeks, and have been enjoying my time. The problem, however, is that I haven't gotten nearly as much reading done by way of International Relations Theory as I expected. My bag full of 10 books has only been lightened by 3 books, and those have not been consumed as well as I had hoped. But I just finished making a list of what I consider the most essential readings on every topic in IR- from neoliberalism to postcolonial feminism.

I would like dearly to not be so stressed out while I am at home, but it is so hard not to do so when something so tremendous is hanging out waiting for me to tackle. Goal by the end of the week is to have liberalism completed. Here's to getting it done!

First Writing Since...

I borrowed this title from Suheir Ahmad's poem about her frustrations and fears as a Muslim/Arab America in the wake of 9/11. I found it appropriate to use for my first blog post because I feel like this is since...

Since I left California
Since I became a graduate student

These are the most prevalent accomplishments in my life in the past 3 years, but there is so much that has happened and driven me in such a short period of time. This will be my escape back into things. I hope that this becomes the way in which I regain myself, while still maintaining the self that I have recently discovered and grown into. I'm kinda excited about this!!!

Enjoy the words of Suheir
